What began as research abut particle entanglement where the past and future can affect each other led to a curious thought about the fluidity between life and death. The pomegranate, existing in a state of both bloom and decay, represents this exact concept in Greek mythology.

Illusion and Pig
My self-portrait carries a certain black queen aura, but the most important thing is the illusion of communion with the things I love. A thin veil covers my eyes, like the mask at a masquerade ball. I hope I can always be as happy and energetic as the pink pig.

Three Goats
Inspired by the concept of evil hiding behind purity, the three goats are unified by their yellow eyes. Each has the potential of being good and bad.

Symbiotic Stranglehold
This piece speaks to the coexistence of love and hatred between two individuals, as well as the power dynamic at hand. While the person in the back appears to be dominant, they’re actually begging their partner not to leave. They simultaneously torture and rely on each other; perhaps the essence of hatred is a painful kind of love.

The Blessed Gourd
This piece is an ode to my family, wishing them health and blessings. My younger sister, Jessica, sits in the middle surrounded by my two younger brothers. The gourd, inspired by “Hulu Wa” (Calabash Brothers) fairytale represents a attitude towards life that is deeply connected to nature.

Power up
I was captivated by the power of the huge industries of modern China that seem to run on their own without rest. To express this power and vitality, I chose a bold, saturated color palette. The factory’s distorted architecture make the machinery appear dynamic and charged with potential, ready to spring into action.

The Fallen Angel
This piece, largely inspired by a stressful time in my life, depicts an angel’s willing descent to hell, only to find themselves filled with regret at the last moment. The tension between the vines pulling the angel downwards and the light lifting them upwards suspends the angel in a torturous limbo.
